The facelift version of Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe was launched earlier in India, but now its AMG variant has been launched as the first made-in-India AMG performance model. The 43 moniker represents the fact that it is a baby AMG without the heroic V8 but it will still offer plenty of usable performance.
The new GLC 43 Coupe offers 390PS and 520Nm of performance from the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine. It’s mated to the 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4MATIC drivetrain system with a rear-biased torque split of 31 percent to the front and the rest to the rear axle. The claimed 0-100kph time is a quick 4.9 seconds. It also gets the option of the AMG performance exhaust for more noise to match its pace.
Just like other tame variants of the 2020 GLC Coupe, the AMG 43 version also offers plenty of cabin comforts such as the 10.25-inch touchscreen MBUX infotainment system with connected car technology and digital assistant, a Burmeister sound system, and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It gets an AMG-specific steering wheel with trackpad controls that can also be used to switch between its various drive modes: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.
The AMG GLC 43 Coupe also offers the AMG Ride Control+ adaptive suspension that finds the balance between driving agility and ride comfort. Its safety equipment includes seven airbags and an active braking assist.
Right now, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 Coupe doesn’t have any direct rivals in India. Its closest competitor in the sporty SUV segment is the pricier Porsche Macan and the more powerful BMW X3 M.
The new AMG GLC 43 Coupe is priced at INR 76.70 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
