Just In: Mahindra Alturas G4 launched in India

Mahindra has officially launched the all new Mahindra Alturas G4 in India. The new flagship SUV will be available in two variants Alturas G4 2WD and Alturas G4 4WD. With the launch of the new Alturas G4 SUV Mahindra has now stepped into a new segment and an expensive one.   Alturas means pinnacle or height, which is fairly a suitable name for the new SUV considering that the new Alturas G4 is the flagship and the most premium SUV to be launched by Mahindra till date. The Alturas G4 is essentially a Mahindra badged version of the SsangYong G4 Rexton, and  was seen at the Auto Expo 2018. Check out the features of the car below:

Engine:

The car is powered by the new 2.2-liter diesel engine by Ssangyong which puts out 178hp at 4000rpm and 420Nm of torque at 1600-2600rpm. The SUV uses a 7-speed Gtronic automatic gearbox borrowed from Mercedes. The Alturas is also equipped with a shift-on-fly four-wheel drive system that can be operated via a round chrome knob situated behind the gear lever.

As the car is similar to SsangYong G4 Rexton, the visual changes are very less. The only noticeable difference is the new grille that comes with Mahindra look with bold vertical chrome slats and the brand logo at the center of it. The Alturas G4 SUV has HID headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps, along with a hostile front bumper which comes with a second set of LED DRLs which act as cornering lamps as well.

The Alturas G4 also comes with a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, ORVMs with integrates turn signal lights, and large roof rails. On the rear section, the car features a set of wraparound LED taillamps and a roof-mounted spoiler with integrated brake lights.

The Alturas uses a ladder-frame chassis and is larger in every dimension than its predecessor, the Rexton. It measures 4,850mm in length, 1,960mm in width, 1,825mm in height and has a 2,865mm long wheelbase. The ground clearance too, at 244mm, is higher than the old car.

For the interior, the Mahindra Alturas G4 features a dual tone Nappa leather interior, leather finished door trims and soft-touch dashboard, LED cabin lights and a sunroof with anti-pinch function. The SUV also offers a 7-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, an 8-way power adjustable driver seat, 3-zone climate control, electronic parking brakes and much more.

It  also has  an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 3D view camera and rear parking assist, rain sensing wiper smart power tailgate and more.

Safety:

In the safety department, the Alturas comes with 9 airbags, ABS + EBD, Electronic stability program, ARP, HDC, HAS, BAS, and ESS.

Price:

The car will be sold from Mahindra’s new World of SUVs showrooms. Alturas is costlier than its predecessor, the Alturas G4 2WD is priced at INR 26.95 lakh (ex-showroom India) and the Alturas G4 4WD is priced at INR 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will rival against Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V.
