Ford’s latest Freestyle has been launched in the Indian market. Ford calls this new Freestyle India’s first Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV). The new car is a crossover model based on the company’s popular Figo hatchback.
The Freestyle is likely to rival with the Toyota Etios Cross and the Hyundai i20 Active. It is available in four variants — Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+ in both petrol and diesel options. The bookings for this vehicle are open and we bring you the detailed updates on the launch of the car.
Engine Details
The company gives the car a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine which is more efficient than the previous-generation four-cylinder petrol ones. This offers a maximum power output of 96PS and a peak torque of 120Nm while claiming a fuel efficiency of 19kmpl. The car’s diesel variants, on the other hand, carry the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine from its hatchback and compact sedan siblings. Its motor produces 100PS power and a peak torque of 215Nm while the company claims a fuel efficiency of 24.4 kmpl. Along with a new engine, the company has also introduced a new five-speed manual gearbox that is standard in both the petrol and the diesel variants.
Exterior and Interior
For the exteriors, the Freestyle gets a new grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, black inserts in headlamps, new fog lamps and roof rails. Its lower body cladding has front and rear skid plates that add a rugged touch. The ground clearance is also higher and is of 190mm. Not only this it also gets larger 15-inch wheels, offering some off-road capabilities that will help you with an easy ride on broken roads. On the interior front, it gets a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen. Other features that are only for the higher variants are automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
