Hyundai to launch a new top variant of Elite i20 which will feature factory installed touchscreen infotainment system on 8th July 2015, the same day when Honda will be launching new Jazz in India. The Elite i20 has been the bestselling model for Korean car maker Hyundai since its launch in August 2014, selling over 10,000 units a month.
Hyundai Elite i20 is one of most rich feature car of the segment equipped with features like 2DIN audio system with 1GB internal memory, multi function steering wheel, fully automatic air conditioning control, ABS, airbags, keyless entry and many more but misses out on certain features such as touchscreen unit and Cruise control.
Now Hyundai has decided to leave no stone unturned in order to make it ‘The most’ feature rich car in the segment as it takes on new Honda Jazz whose top variants are equipped with touchscreen unit that is also found on City sedan.
Honda is all set to launch new Jazz on 8th July 2015 which is equipped with features like touchscreen unit with navigation, automatic transmission with paddle shifters and two cabin color combinations- black beige and all black themes.
This may have force Hyundai to bring a touchscreen unit with navigation to Elite i20 and if Hyundai brings a 7 inch system from UK spec variant then Elite i20 would get an edge over 6 inch unit of Honda Jazz.
In addition, If Hyundai able to launch this new Elite i20 before the launch of new Jazz then Honda will not be able to call it segment first feature. Inclusion of touchscreen unit will make the variants of Elite i20 pricier by Rs. 12,000-20,000.
It will be interesting to see the battle between the two cars as both are good looking and equipped with long list of features and if new Jazz is priced rightly then it will give a tough competition to segment leader Elite i20 for the no.1 spot.
