In a bid to boost the popularity of its entry level hatch Eon, Hyundai has launched the Sports edition of the car. The limited edition starts at Rs. 3.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and comes with cosmetic updates and feature additions. This edition is offered with Era+ and Magna+ SE trim with an additional cost of Rs. 16,000 and Rs. 10,000 over the standard trim. Hyundai Eon sports edition is available only with smaller 0.8-litre engine.
Interestingly Hyundai hasn’t used any graphic decals or body graphics like other limited editions. Instead, Hyundai has equipped it with side body moulding and sporty roof rails. The limited edition is available only with a polar white colour. Besides, the biggest change is the addition of a 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Smartphone link and navigation which makes in line with Renault Kwid as the car offers it as standard.
As said, the edition comes only with a 0.8-litre engine that makes 55bhp power@5500rpm and 74.5 Nm of torque@4000rpm. Powering rear wheels is a five-speed manual transmission and it offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.1 Kmpl. Hyundai is also planning a mild facelift of the hatchback which is likely to be launched in India by the end of this year.
