Eon is the new hatchback car launched by South Korean carmaker Hyundai. Its India’s newest trendsetter; with compact design, Eon is easy to maneuver on busy Indian streets and congested pathways and in an era of parking shortage the car is easy to park giving peace to the driver.

The dimensions of the car are 3495mm x1550mm x 1500mm with wheelbase of 2380mm. The ground clearance of 170mm and boot space of 215l is provided by the car. The car is available in 2 fuel versions: petrol and LPG. Under the hood we have SOHC 3cyl/ 9 valves engine giving displacement of 814cc. The max power churned is 56/5500 ps/rpm and max torque of 7.6/4400 kgm/rpm. The ARAI mileage figure is 21.1kmpl and thus the car is easy on pocket. The car is available in LPG as fuel following the ‘blue drive’ technology and thus the car is eco-friendly. It has several benefits: lower running cost than petrol, 2 yr unlimited warranty, dual fuel advantage of LPG and petrol, specially designed 34l toroidal LPG tank to occupy min boot space. The transmission is 5-speed manual and suspension is McPherson Strut with coil spring and anti-roll bar for the front and torsion beam axle with coil spring on the rear. Also the shock absorber is of gas type. Coming to the brakes, while the front brake is disc type the rear one is drum like most hatchback cars.

The car is available in 5 trims namely D-LITE, D-LITE+, ERA+, MAGNA+ and SPORTZ, with SPORTZ being the top model. The LPG option is not available in D-LITE and SPORTZ trims. With sharp curves on the body the car is aerodynamic and has a moderate front chrome grill holding the brand logo proudly. Stylish headlamps, front fog lamps, tail lamps, body coloured door handles/ORVMs, body coloured bumper and rear spoilers are definitely eye catching. MAGNA+ and SPORTZ have a standard full wheel cover while others have a hub cap only. Only the top 2 models have a micro roof antenna to listen to your favourite radio stations.
