The EcoSport has been a wonder car for Ford in India as the compact SUV has climbed the sales chart and achieved great milestones year by year. The carmaker has already sold more than 2 lakh units of the SUV in India ever since its launch. Recently, EcoSport received a mild update and a new engine for the Indian market.
Now, a test mule of the EcoSport facelift has been spotted in the US, despite of under heavy camouflaged the model is easily familiar. The prototype’s front and rear is fully covered which suggests it is likely to come with new grille, air dam and new seat of headlights. Side is expected to remain same albeit minor changes like Turn indicators on ORVMs and new alloy wheels. The taillights also expected to receive some Midas touch may be the LED treatment along with tweaked rear.
The interiors of new EcoSport is also expected to get minor tweaks like new infotainment system, new upholstery etc to make it more competitive and refreshing as Honda is gearing up to launch HR-V soon. Ford might offer new EcoSport with AWD option and with disc brakes at rear.
There are chances that Ford might carry same powertrains to the facelift version as well- 1.5l TDCi diesel engine developing 99bhp of power and 205 Nm torque along with 1.5 litre TiVCT petrol produces max power 110bhp and 140 Nm torque. Moreover, there is also a 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine on offer that develops 124bhp and 170 Nm torque. The EcoSport facelift is expected to be rolled out by the end of 2016 or early 2017.
