Toyota has revealed its next-generation Auris at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. This new generation sedan is based on the new-gen Auris. It will be revealed globally in late 2018 or early 2019.
This time Toyota gives it a more rigid platform and has a lower centre of gravity. These attributes of the car promise to improve ride and handling of the car as it will be based on a new platform. This platform is highly flexible and can even spawn a variety of body styles. The car is designed to get a hybrid powertrain.
Engine Details
Toyota this time ditched the diesel engine options as now no TNGA-based car offer a diesel engine because of they all hybrid or a petrol engine. It would get a 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain, which it most probably borrowed from the Auris based in India. This new sedan has been specially developed for TNGA-based models. It comes packed with a brand new 2.0-litre direct-injected petrol engine from Toyota’s latest Dynamic Force Engine family. It produces an output of 180PS.
More about the car
The Corolla hybrid would be good for the Toyota in India as the government is to enforce CAFE (corporate average fuel efficiency) norms from 2022 that requires all automakers to have minimum average fuel efficiency for their lineup. Moreover, the company already assembles the Camry Hybrid in India and would easily do it for this upcoming model as well.
