The first civilian jeep was produced in 1945 and till date, there are many premium off-road SUVs that have been produced. This time the Jeep has come up with a new Jeep Renegade version that is built on a small 4×4 platform and underpins the Fiat 500X.
It is likely to be introduced in India through CBU route. The SUV will be the most affordable model for the carmaker. Here we come with more of its updates.
Engine Details
Under the hood, the SUV has a 2.0-litre Multijet2 engine that is available with manual and auto box. The car produces two states of tune that are 138bhp and 168bhp. For transmission, it is expected to get a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic unit. Interestingly, the Jeep can also equip a 1.6-litre MultiJet diesel engine. This unit of the Jeep develops 120hp of power.
Exterior and Interior
Inside the cabin, the Renegade is expected to get features like climate control system, UConnect with a 50-inch screen, rear parking sensors etc. The interior also comes with folding second-row seats offered as either a 60/40 split folding rear bench or a 40/20/40 split folding rear bench. The front seats also fold up for more luggage space. The SUV comes with leather upholstery, UConnect with a 5-inch screen, climate control system, cruise control and rear parking sensors. The vehicle is styled with Jeep’s flat bonnet, round headlights and a vertically slotted grille. Its flat rear has square taillights. The Renegade also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels.
Price
It is said to be priced between 12 Lakh INR to 17 Lakh INR and will be in India by 2019. It will compete against the BMW X1, Mini Countryman and the Mercedes-Benz GLA in India.
