Coming soon: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift spotted

The Ciaz was launched in 2014 and since then has been very popular in the C2 Sedan buyers. Now Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the updated version. However, the facelift has created a lot of buzz and updates say it will take on cars like Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The new version will roll out in August with some new styling to look fresher and more attractive.

The company has been testing the car extensively and the facelifted Ciaz is likely to get a new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine developed by Suzuki. The new engine will be replacing 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet units. This engine makes about 106 PS of peak power and 140 Nm of peak torque; both these figures are higher than current Ciaz. The petrol engine is expected to get 5 speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes. Other interiors will get a more premium touch.

Talking about the segment the car will get LED daytime running lamps and projector headlamps at least on the higher-spec trims. The bumpers will be tweaked along with the grille for a new look. On the interior, Maruti Suzuki will not change the inside details much, but it might get automatic headlamps or wipers.

It’s true that the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz still manages to remain as one of the top three best-selling models in the compact sedan segment, despite new competition coming in. That said, it’s only going to be an uphill task for the Maruti Ciaz to justify its position in the segment.

Maruti Suzuki hasn’t shared launch details on the new Ciaz yet, but it is expected t launch soon.
