Chevrolet ever since its debut in India has bloomed quite an amount. However mistakes like the Sail have brought it quite down. Here is a gist as to why the Sail UVA failed to make the impression.
Interior and exterior
Chevrolet was one of the famous brands hosting the stylish car banner however the U-VA proved to be the exact opposite. The better version of U-VA i.e. SAIL U-VA with its twin grille, redesigned bumper and the shaper look still fails to continue the legacy. Therefore, taking a massive hit in the outside appearance or exteriors department.Comfort wise the car again seems not too good. Swift seems to be far superior in comparison. Even with the decent spaciousness, the car fails to score on the interiors as well thanks to the cheap gray plastic interiors and lack of gadgets in the car. Also the car seems to be very delicate both interior and exterior wise which means a large expense in India. Hence this touch me not quality makes it even more undesirable.
Engine
The engine again is a disappointment in the speeding department as it takes a while to reach its peek. The mileage is again a thumbs down with 14.5kpl on the highway and 12kpl in town. The accuracy of the brakes seems to beat only the starting cars of Maruti.
Price and brand
Another very important negative value of the car arises from the fact that its a Chevrolet’s creation. The brand has what so ever no high brand value in India. The Sail U-VA is priced in the range of Rs 5.78 lakhs to Rs 6.70 lakhs which seems to pricey.
On the road
The car seems to be a little disturbing both while accelerating and with the bumps. While speeding up along with the increased pressure your feet needs to face, the steering too seem shaky with increase in speed.
Reliability
The basic stepping stone for a car is its reliability. Sadly with Sail UVA the essence of reliability is far lost. Within months of purchase, owners of this car seem to be quite fed up of it and are strongly recommending people not to buy this car stating that it has lots of manufacturing defects. It must also be noted that Chevrolet was asked to stop the production of the previous version due to massive public disapproval. So, all in all the car does not seem to score much on reliability either.
Verdict
Even though this version is better than the previous one, yet somehow to me the car does not seem to worth the money. If Chevrolet drops the price, then it seems a little better. Moreover Chevrolet does not have the brand value in it to push Sail UVA across the sales charts. Hence I would strongly recommend swift as it seems a much more viable option set in the same price range.
