Datsun brand is back after almost three decades, with its hatchback Datsun Go which is ready to be unveiled at Auto Expo 2014.
The hatchback would be manufactured in India under the Nissan-Renault jointly created production plant at Chennai. Nissan plans to manufacture approx 10 models by 2016 including this Datsun’s hatchback in its Chennai plant. This step is obviously taken to increase the company’s network in India.
“Today we begin new chapter in the history of Nissan. Datsun is back… The car will go on sales early next year in India, followed by Indonesia, Russia and South Africa. We have a market share of little over 1.2 per cent in India at present. We are looking to take it to 10 percent in the mid-term (2016). We expect Datsun to play a significant role in this,”” Nissan Motor Co President and CEO Carlos Ghosn said here.
Though, company is stating that this new hatchback will be launched in India by the end of this year but still people could see this classy model in upcoming Auto Expo 2014 as Datsun Go is going to be showcased there.

Though the exact price is not revealed yet but reportedly it would have the price tag of less than 4 lakhs.
Engine details:
Reportedly, it would be based on the Nissan V platform like the Nissan Micra. The armed engine in this hatchback would be a 1200cc, 1.2 liter, straight-three petrol engine by developing the max power of 68bhp and peak torque of 140Nm. The equipment of diesel fuel in this Datsun Go is still not confirmed yet. The engine would be mated with 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.
Dimension:
The revealed dimension of this new five seater hatchback is 3785mm x 1635mm x 1485mm along with the expected wheelbase of 2450mm.
