For those eagerly waiting for Jeep’s compact SUV compass to be launched in India, we have some good news. Jeep is all set to unveil Compass compact SUV in India on 12th April 2017 with an expected price of Rs. 20 and 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It must be noted that this is not a launch so prices will not be revealed on the date. The compass will be brand’s first product to be manufactured at FCA plant in Ranjangaon and will be sold in more than 100 countries.
India bound Compass will be identical to the car sold in Brazil, so it will measure 4410mm in length, 1820mm in width, 1640 mm in height and sits on a wheelbase of 2630 mm. The Iconic American carmaker commenced its operations in India in August last year with the launch of Jeep wrangler and Grand Cherokee. These are brand’s halo products while Compass will be a volume product for Jeep in India.
The company hasn’t disclosed any engine details yet but we expect compass to be powered by 1.4l Multiair petrol engine that makes 140bhp power and utilizes electro hydraulic solenoids for more power and fuel efficiency. The diesel will be a 2.0l Multi jet engine that makes 170bhp of max power and 350Nm of torque and comes with 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The Jeep AWD system comes with traction management system and multi modes like Sand, mud and rock.
The Baby Cherokee will follow the same butch design along with stylish exterior and rich features like touchscreen infotainment system, all power windows, leather upholstery, auto climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs and front seats and much more. Once launched, it will go head to head with Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Chevrolet Trailblazer in India.
