Tata is pepping for its next launch in India, the Tigor compact sedan which is scheduled for 29th March 2017. Tata has started accepting bookings for a refundable amount of Rs. 11,000 and has released all the specifications. Based on Tiago hatchback, Tigor is packed with some additional features and more space. Tata’s recent launches Tiago and Hexa has augmented carmaker’s image in the domestic market and Tigor seems to better that.
The Tata Tigor measures 3992mm in length, 1677mm in width, and 1537mm in height and sits on the wheelbase of 2450mm. It has 170mm of ground clearance and offers 419 liters of boot space. Built on Tata’s IMPACT design language, Tigor borrows number of design elements and features from its hatchback counterpart. However, to differentiate it gets smoked projector headlamps with LED DRLs, unique side profile, new 15 inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights and LED stop light.
Like exterior, most of the elements are taken from Tiago such as same 5 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Smartphone integration, 8-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, fabric upholstery for seats and door pads. It also gets individual headrests for rear seats, centre armrest with cup holders, automatic climate control, 12V power socket and much more.
For the powertrains, the compact sedan will be offered with the same petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2l Revotron petrol engine makes 85bhp power and 114Nm of torque while the 1.05l Revotorq diesel engine belts out 70bhp power and 140Nm of high torque. Both the engines will come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In terms of fuel efficiency, we can expect Tigor to deliver mileage similar to Tiago.
Tigor is likely to be priced between Rs. 4.8 lakh to 7.7 lakh (ex-showroom) and once launched it will take on the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze.
