2017 Force Gurkha launched in India at Rs. 8.38 lakh

Force motors have silently launched the updated Gurkha EOV (extreme off road vehicle) in India. It is available in three door (Xplorer) and five door (Xpedition) variants and prices start at Rs. 8.38 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The facelift model is BS4 complaint and gets minor changes to outside and interior along with some mechanical revisions.

Force has made some changes to 2017 version, for starters it gets new front grille, new steel bumper flanked by revised fog lamps and revamped tail lights. However, overall silhouette and design is identical to the outgoing model. On the inside new Gurkha receives a manual air conditioning system, new gear lever, new four spoke steering wheel and revised floor console with extra storage pots. The seats and upholstery has been revised as well.

The Xplorer edition comes in both three and five door configurations with soft roof top while Xpedition trim gets only five door and hard roof top option. In addition Xplorer trim can be had in hard or soft roof top option and four plus driver to seven plus drive seating option.

Under the hood is a 2.6 litre turbocharged four cylinder diesel engine that belts out 84bhp@3200rpm of power and 230Nm of high torque@1400-2400rpm. Transmission duty is taken care by a G28 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to all four wheels in Xplorer trim and rear wheels in Xpedition variant.

Besides, the EOV bears a new suspension set up with a new ladder frame chassis. The front end gets independent struts with gas-charged shock absorbers while rear sports a new multi-link setup accompanied by gas-charged hydraulic shocks. Force Gurkha measures 4342mm in length, 1790mm in width, 2055mm tall and sits on the wheelbase of 2750mm. The Xplorer five door trim offers 190mm of ground clearance while 3-door has 205mm.
