The much awaited Toyota Innova Crysta has been launched in India today, launched in total of six variants; the new MPV is priced between Rs. 13.84 lakhs to Rs. 20.78 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) for range topping model. The deliveries will commence from 13th May 2016. The new Gen model is build on new ladder chassis and also sports new external appearance and bears new range of engines. Unfortunately, due to the ban imposed on the registrations of diesel vehicles above 2000cc in Delhi, the Innova Crysta will not be launched in the Delhi NCR region at least for now.
Toyota hasn’t revealed the variant wise pricing yet but considering the price of base variant Rs 13.84 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai) which is about 4 lakhs costlier than the model it is replacing. The top variants is priced at Rs. 20.78 lakhs which puts it another league of MPV segment that is uncontested for now.
Engine Details:
Under the hood, there is an option of choosing new GD range of powertrains– a 2.4 litre VNT intercooler and 2.8l GD. The former produces max output of 147bhp@3400rpm and 343Nm of torque between 1400-2800rpm. The more powerful engine develops 174.5bhp of power@3400rpma and high torque of 360Nm between 1200-3400rpm. Transmission duties are taken care by 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The engines also feature three driving modes- Eco, Normal and Sport.
Toyota claims that new engines are 10 percent more fuel efficient against the outgoing model and fuel efficiency of 2.4l manual stands at 15.10 Kmpl while 2.8l delivers 14.29 Kmpl.
Space and Dimensions:
The new Gen Innova is based on TNGA (Toyota new generation architecture) and as a result it is 150mm longer, 65mm wider and 35mm taller as the compared to outgoing model. The new dimensions stand at 4735mm length, 1830mm width, 1795mm height and sits on identical wheelbase of 2750mm. The MPV is available with both 7 and 8 seater configurations.
Exterior and interior:
The MPV has undergone a massive cosmetic makeover making it look hell lot better than its predecessor. At front is a huge trapezoidal chrome grille flanked by large wraparound projector headlamps with LED DRLs, larger nose, new bumper and all new fog lamps. The side and rear profile also gets handful of alterations such as chrome window lining, sharper C pillars, chrome door handles, new 17 inch alloy wheels giving it the MPV looks. The rear side of Crysta looks radical with large windscreen, T shaped Tail lamps and big bumper.
The cabin of the MPV is all new, premium and highlighted by an elegant dashboard bearing multiple trim inserts and chrome. In terms of features, it comes with automatic climate control, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with DVD player, reverse parking camera, bluetooth telephony and aux-in. You also get ambient lighting, electronic driver seat with 8 way adjustability, keyless entry with start/stop button, 4.2 inch multi-information display flaunting average speed, distance to empty, trip distance, fuel efficiency etc.
Apart from this, there are more than 20 storage spaces; sack table for the middle row, cruise control, each row has a separate air con vent, one touch third row up, one touch tumble second row.
Colors:
The Innova Crysta is available in six different color shades which are Garnet red, Avant Grande Bronze, Dark grey, Super White, Silver metallic and White pearl crystal shine.
Safety:
Apart from improving design and adding features, Toyota also strengthened passenger protection segment with standard features like dual front and knee airbags and ABS (anti-lock braking system). The top variants are loaded with side and curtain airbags, hill start assist, vehicle stability control, rear parking sensors, EBD, brake assist, door ajar warning, engine immobilizer, anti-theft system and three point seat belts for all passengers.
