One of Audi’s most successful car in the Indian market’ A4’ has been showcased with all new design at the 2016 Auto Expo. The sedan has been around since 4 decades and retailed over 10 million units across the globe. In its fifth generation, the sedan is now based on styling cues seen on new Q7, R8 and A6 Matrix.
Having made its official debut at the last year’s Frankfurt motor show, the new model is now longer, wider and lighter in weight than the outgoing model. The dimensions now stands at 4730mm of length, 1840mm of width, 1430mm of height and wheelbase has also been extended by 12mm.
Thanks to new MLB Eco modular platform, the 2016 A4 is 120kgs lighter as compared to the last generation model and also it comes with class leading drag coefficient of 0.23cd.
The car features an evolutionary design with sharper front fascia flaunting horizontal signature multi slat grille, sleek matrix headlamps with LED DRLs and turn blinkers and new bumper as well. The side profile sports shoulder line, new multi spoke alloy wheels and new ORVMs with LED turn indicators adds to sloping profile of the car. Like front, rear too gets some styling tweaks such as new sleeker LED tail lights and redesigned bumper.
Even on inside the luxury reformation continues as it gets new seats with Alcantara premium leather upholstery, famed Audi’s virtual cockpit with huge 12.3 inch MMI display and 8.3 inch color screen, adjustable ambient lighting with interior lighting packages, Bang and Olufsen with 3D audio technology for enhanced experience, pore woods, high quality plastic and much more.
The Audi A4 is available with seven engines internationally including two diesel and five petrol but India would get a 2.0 TDI diesel mill (187PS) along with 2.0l or 1.8l TFSI petrol (248PS). The diesel variant can hit 0-100km mark in just 7.1 seconds while petrol can achieve the same in 7.4 seconds while offering 240km/hr. At the expo, Audi showcased the meaty 3.0l TDI V6 motor that develops 272hp of max output.
Expected to be priced between Rs. 35 lakhs and 42 lakhs (ex-showroom), the sedan will compete Mercedes-Benz C-class, BMW 3-series and Jaguar XE.
