With Festive season at the door steps, various car makers are coming with a range of new cars and limited variants. When we talk of introducing the new variants then who’s better than the ultimate king and India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki. In the last month or so MSIL has launched number of limited variants like Alto K10 Onam edition, Ertiga’s Paseo edition etc. Apart from launching Ertiga facelift yesterday, MSIL has also launched RS variants of its popular sedan Ciaz in the country.
Expanding its C segment’s sedan line up, the racier version of Ciaz starts at Rs. 9.20 lakhs for the petrol trim meanwhile diesel is priced at Rs. 10.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The RS edition is only available on the top of the line Z+ trims with the choice of both petrol and diesel engines.
The Sportier avatar of Ciaz gets some minor cosmetic changes like it comes with spoiler that includes front bumper lip aka front spoiler, boot lid mounted spoiler with integrated brake light and side skirts. Besides these, there is no change at all on RS Ciaz and company says that the alternations will improve the aerodynamics of the car.
The interiors of Ciaz RS now come with all black treatment flanked by faux chrome embellishments on the central console to match the funkier outside design. In terms of features, it has all the bells and whistles of the Z+ trim i.e. a 7 inch Smartplay infotainment system with voice command and navigation, leather upholstery, automatic AC, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs.
Maruti Suzuki is offering Ciaz RS in a choice of seven colors–Pearl Metallic Dignity Brown, Pearl Snow White, Pearl Sangria Red, Metallic Glistening Gray, Metallic Silky Silver, Pearl Midnight Black and Metallic Clear Beige.
The safety segment is being held by dual front airbags, ABS, reverser parking camera along with sensors, automatic IRVM, front fog lamps, front seat belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters etc. Ciaz has been the volume generator for the carmaker and retailed over 56,000 units since its launch in October 2014.
The car is available with the same set of petrol and diesel engines- 1.4l K series developing 91bhp power@6000rpm and 130Nm of torque@4000rpm available with 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmissions. The diesel now known as SHVS hybrid churns out 89bhp@4000rpm along with 200Nm torque@1750rpm, comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Just to remind you, SHVS Ciaz is India’s most fuel efficient car with 28.03 KMPL of ARAI certified mileage.
