It has been some time scene Fiat has announced that it will launch the Abarth brand in the country and car lovers around India have been waiting keenly for its arrival. It was 2014 auto expo when production ready model of Fiat 500 was showcased, since then everyone around the country has been speculating the launch of performance oriented Abarth 500.
In December 2014 Fiat 595 was showcased at Autocar show and since then everyone is asking the same question from Fiat that “Nation wants to know when you going to launch Abarth 595 Competizione in India”. Now, it seems that long wait is about to end as Fiat has announced that it will launch 595 Abarth Competizione in India on 4th August 2015.
The Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione will be brought to India via CBU route and expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, it will take on Mini Cooper S in the country.
Powering the 595 Competizione will be a 1.4 L T-Jet petrol engine developing 160PS power@5500rpm and max torque of 230Nm@3000rpm. The engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT); the latter will come with paddle shifters as well. The driver will have the choice of two driving modes- Normal and sport.
On the outside, the car features Abarth badges, sportier front and rear bumpers, graphite finish on the ORVMs, 17 inch alloy wheels with Pirelli P-zero tyres, a rear spoiler, HID headlights, twin exhausts and body graphics.
The Abarth 595 Competizione comes loaded with automatic climate control, Abarth branding on the seats, graphite finish on dashboard, flat bottom steering wheel and bluetooth enabled audio system, alloy pedals. The performance variant is equipped with some high end safety features such as seven airbags, ABS, EBD, torque transfer control, electronic slip differential etc.
The 595 Competizione will be the first car under Abarth brand in India; the car maker will also launch Avventura Abarth and Punto EVO Abarth during festive season this year. Both the cars are expected to get same 1.4L T-jet engine.
