Despite of having a huge fan following in India Ford Mustang was never launched in the country. Recently, there were rumors about Mustang is coming to India in 2015 and guess what, we are getting it this year. The Pony car has been spotted inside the ARAI (Automotive research association of India) facility which confirms that Ford will launch it in the Indian market very soon.
The car is spotted in an orange shade flaunting a long muscular bonnet with eagle eye shaped sleek automatic headlamps with wiper activation feature, black grille embedded with Mustang’s logo and fog lamps. Coming to the sides, it has 19” Ebony black painted multi spoke aluminum wheels while rear features a unique pattern tail lights with thick black strip, rear spoiler and Pony projection lights to complete the look of stunning Mustang.
For the first time ever, Ford is offering Mustang in RHD set up and sports features like 50:50 rear spilt, dual zone automatic climate control, headed and cooled front seats, touchscreen display, four gauge instrument cluster with chrome accents, push start button, premium upholstery and multi-function steering wheel.
On the safety front, it gets integral-link independent suspension with coil springs and stabilizer at rear, electric line-lock, ESC (electronic stability control), brakes with 6 piston front calipers and airbags.
The variant which is spied at ARAI was a GT premium fastback that houses a 5.0L V8 engine which develops 435bhp power@6500rpm and enormous 524Nm of peak torque. The engine is matched to a 6-speed select shift automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and it can reach 100km mark from standstill in just 4.5 seconds. Though in United States, the Pony can be had with three engine options- V6 base variant, 2.3L Eco boost and larger V8 petrol engine.
The Ford Mustang is likely to be launched in during the festive season i.e. in October-November period. It will be brought to the country via CBU route and hence, will be priced in the range of 60-65 lakhs. Youngsters, start saving up guys!
Apart from Ford Mustang, two mules of new GEN Ford Endeavour were also spotted at ARAI Pune to obtain all approvals needed for a launch. New GEN Endeavour will get two engines- a 2.2L diesel and a 3.2L diesel developing 198bhp power and 470Nm of peak torque. Automatic and manual transmissions and AWD is also expected. The new GEN Endeavour is one of the four launches for Ford in India this year and we expect it to reach Indian showrooms by the end of this year.
