The Volvo S60 T6 Petrol has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs. 42 lakh (Ex-showroom New Delhi) and like other Volvos; this will be also brought in via the CBU (Completely-build up unit) route. The S60 T6 petrol will lock its horns with Mercedes-Benz C class and BMW 3-series in the Indian market. The S60 was initially launched in 2014 with a diesel engine as D4 and D5 trims.

The S60 T6 petrol is powered by 2.0L four cylinder direct injection petrol motor that is good for 304bhp power@5700rpm and peak torque of 400Nm, linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission powering the front wheels. The engine helps sedan to make 0-100 km sprint in just 5.9 seconds with the top speed of 230 km/hr and returns claimed fuel efficiency of 15.6 KMPL.

The new engine is replacing the 3.0L six cylinder petrol engine that develops 304bhp power and 440Nm of torque, equipped with AWD. The new model sports RWD which means less fun drive quotient for the enthusiasts and god knows why Volvo is diving back to rear wheel drive while its predecessor is available with AWD.

In terms of design, the S60 T6 looks same as its diesel variants which mean you get pull backed active bending headlights with LED Daytime running lights, fog lamps with cornering function, sculptured bonnet and typical Volvo front grille. Rear side flaunts emergency brake lights, LED tail lights.

Interiors of S60 T6 get leather and wood finish, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DVD, bluetooth and navigation, powered front seats with leather upholstery and remote memory feature, electric sunroof, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob. The S60 T6 sports an adaptive digital driver display with three color theme options- Elegance, Eco and performance. Other features include Climate control; auto dimmed inner mirror, heated front seats, rear armrest with cup holders.

Quite identical to the other Volvo products, S60 T6 too is loaded with an array of safety features such as six airbags including two step airbag for front passengers, park assist front and rear, Cruise control, speed sensitive power steering, rear view camera, EBA (emergency brake assist), anti-lock braking system (ABS), electrical parking brake, front disc brake, whiplash protection system, side impact protection system and city safe system to mention a few.

This is the fourth launch of Volvo in India after V40 Cross country, new XC 90 and V40 hatchback. The company retained 1200 units in 2014-15 with a market share of 3.5% and aims to grab 10 percent of market pie by 2020. The company is also looking to open 20 more new showrooms by next fiscal year.
