2014 is the year of hatchbacks with the launch of hatchbacks like Polo, Punto EVO and recently launched Elite i20. Now it’s time to witness the launch of Oldest and earliest player of this segment which is Maruti’s facelift version of its premium hatchback ‘Swift’. New Swift is expected to hit the floors on November 2014. Earlier this year, in Indian auto expo world has seen a glance of it.
Swift is the top selling hatchback in India since its introduction in 2005 and its revamped version came in 2010 which strengthened its position more firmly in market. Other companies launching its product one after another but Maruti has kept their consumers on waiting, may be Maruti is planning to give Festive bonanza to them.
New swift is expected not to undergo much mechanical changes as Swift will continue to offer same 1.2L k series petrol and 1.3L DDIS diesel engines. Interiors too will expect to remain same except a few changes especially in the Top model of swift with touch screen infotainment system, six airbags, Bluetooth connectivity and Start/stop button.
Exteriors to have changes like daylight headlamps with washers, Fog lamps, new tail lights, new alloy wheels and refreshed bumpers. Maruti might come up with some new colors as well.
Due to these cosmetic changes one can expect Maruti to raise Swift’s price by 22,000 and it will give competition to the likes of Polo, Punto EVO and Hyundai i20.
