From dull to bold, this is what we have to say about the next Gen Micra revealed at the ongoing Paris motor show. At first glance, it looks stunning, premium and bigger than the current model which is low on tech, quirky styled and meant for those whose small car expectations are low. Whereas the new model has nothing in common with ongoing model and provides more tech and gadgets one could ever imagine from the small car.

The new Gen Micra will cater its biggest market Europe and UK from March 2017 while there is no official call for the Indian market. However, India is unlikely to get this model as the brand is developing a new hatch which is based on current Micra V platform. If this new Micra launch in India, it will take on the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz.

Nissan Micra has taken design cues from the Sway concept that was one of shop stopper of 2015 Geneva motor show. In terms of design, this new little cute hatchback is wider and larger than the car it is going to replace next year. It’s got shorter bonnet, lower stance and raked windscreen.

The new Micra features familiar V-shaped grille flanked by boomerang shaped sweptback headlamps with LED DRLs, heavily sculpted bonnet. The coupe like sloping profile, aggressive character lines, blackened out C-pillars, flared wheel arches, 16 inch (17 inch optional) alloy wheels exemplify the side profile. The rear profile now looks energetic and flaunts short windscreen with wiper, boomerang shaped LED taillights, colored bumper with contrast black strip along with LED reflector. The car will be available in ten exterior shades and thanks of plethora of customization options you can get around 100+ variants of Micra.

As said, the new model has grown in size as it is whopping 174mm longer, 77mm taller and rides on 74mm extended wheelbase. At tape, it now measures 3999mm in length, 1743mm in width, 14555mm in height and wheelbase of 2525mm. Larger dimensions result in better knee room space and larger boot.

On the inside, things look premium and upmarket and it sports similar dual tone gliding wing dashboard of Kick SUV concept.  The new iteration of Micra will be tech heavy with goodies like 7 inch full color central touch display with satellite navigation, Siri voice control via Apple car play, downloadable apps and mobile phone connectivity. The list just doesn’t end here, the front doors boast Bose 65 speakers, twin pod cluster, new three spoke multifunction steering wheel, a premium headset embedded into driver’s seat headrest for enhanced audio experience, Bose personal space virtual audio. These features are usually found on more expensive cars.
