India’s bestselling compact sedan, Maruti Suzuki Dzire will get a facelift this year. While the launch of new Swift is still a year away, the new Dzire is set to arrive on Indian shores by next month. In its third generation, new Dzire will get significant changes both inside and outside along with new additional features. The recent spy images reveal more design changes, new alloy wheels and new color options like- Copper brown, white, red and blue.
Dzire is based on all new Swift however Maruti engineers have done significant changes to differentiate from the hatchback model. It is also lighter than the ongoing model which translates into better fuel efficiency and performance.
The new Dzire has wider front grille with chrome bezel, new bumper with large air dam, new fog lamp enclosures and chrome accents. It also sports sweptback projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Side profile is similar except for the new alloy wheels and electrically adjustable outer rear view mirrors. The rear gets molded boot spoiler, LED tail lamps, revised rear bumper and shark fin antenna.
The cabin also has dual tone treatment flanked by new flat bottomed steering wheel with mounted controls, 7 inch touchscreen system with Apple car play, Android auto and in-built navigation. Also there will be leather upholstery, redesigned air con vents, revised instrument cluster, auto climate control with rear Ac vents, rear armrests with cup holders, cruise control etc.
For safety, 2017 Dzire is expected to offer dual front airbags and ABS as standard along with rear parking sensors and engine immobilizer. Other features include reverse parking camera, seat belt pre-tensioners, EBD (electronic brake force distribution) to name a few.
The Swift Dzire is likely to utilize current engines– 1.2l 4-cyliner petrol and 1.3l DDis diesel motor. The former develops 83bhp power along with 115Nm of torque and will be linked with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AT gearbox. The latter is good for 74bhp of max output and 190Nm of torque, linked with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT gearbox. The diesel engine will feature company’s mild hybrid system – Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS).
Thanks to new changes and additions, expect a price hike of Rs. 50,000-60,000 across the range. When launched, it will take on the likes of Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor, Hyundai Xcent and Ford Figo Aspire.
