Audi has launched 2017 A3 in India at an introductory price of Rs. 30.5 lakh for the TFSI petrol and Rs. 32.30 lakh for the diesel variant. Audi’s entry level sedan is available in both petrol and diesel engines with two grades-Premium plus and technology. The new A3 range was initially revealed in 2016 and went on sale in Germany later on. The A3 is available in three door hatchback, four door sedan, two-door cabriolet and five door sportback in international markets. For India, A3 is only available in four door sedan and cabriolet avatars.

Engine Details

Under the hood of new Audi A3 is the same petrol and diesel trim. The diesel variants are powered by a 2.0l 4-cylinder TDI engine that makes 143bhp@3500-4000rpm and 320Nm between 1750-3000rpm. It is linked to a 6-speed S-tronic automatic gearbox and delivers best in class fuel efficiency of 20.38 Kmpl. The petrol variants get juice from a downsized 1.4l TFSI engine which makes max output of 150bhp@5000-6000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1500-3500rpm. Being linked to a 7-speed S-tronic transmission, it delivers ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 19.20 Kmpl.

Space and Dimensions

At tape new A3 remains same, it measures 4458mm long, 1796mm wide and 1416mm tall. It sits on a wheelbase of 2637mm and offers 425 liters of luggage capacity.

Exterior

2017 Audi A3 gets host of updates to the outer profile and interior too. Similar to new Cabriolet new A3 gets bigger redesigned front grille, new xenon lights with LED daytime running lights along with optional all LED headlights. Side profile remains same save for the new 17 inch alloy wheels. Rear house restyled bumpers, new LED tail lamps with three dimensional effects with integrated turn blinkers.

Interiors and Safety

The interiors have been also revised as well with titanium grey touch on the dashboard, new three spoke electromechanical steering wheel, Jet like air con vents with diffuse and sport function. A3 is equipped with signature Audi’s virtual cockpit instrument cluster, retraceable 7-inch touchscreen with navigation, Android auto and Apple car play connectivity. Other standard features include electrically adjustable front seats, cruise control with speed limiter, MMI navigation, dual zone automatic climate control with sun position sensor, Milano leather seats, electric folding and anti-glare function, storage package, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Audi phone box with wireless charging, Audi parking system plus with rear view camera, semi autonomous traffic jam assist, active lane assist, cross traffic assist function etc.
