One of the most popular MPV’s from Maruti Stable, Ertiga will soon receive a facelift in India. The facelift is slated for 10th October 2015 in the country and will come with some hostile changes. Maruti portray Ertiga as a LUV (life utility vehicle) which was launched in 2012 and currently it is being sold in many countries including India, China, South Africa, Myanmar and many more.
The MPV has generated some skyrocketing figures for the company and in current scenario it is the second best MPV in India after Toyota Innova. Lately, at Gaikindo Indonesia International auto show (GIIAS) the facelifted Ertiga was showcased and it has been spotted testing in Indian on many occasions.
The MPV gets a new three slate front grille filled with lots of chrome, tweaked bonnet, revised front bumper new housings for chrome enclosed fog lamps and smaller air ducts. Side profile remain same but save for the new 15 inch five spoke alloy wheels while the rear witnesses a new bumper and a thick chrome bar over the number plate. To further freshen up the things, Maruti has added two reflectors to give it a van like rear end.
The changes are not restricted to the exterior profile; interiors also get some prominent changes like start/stop button, electric folding ORVMs, new upholstery, rear parking camera with rear sensors, automatic climate control, 50:50 rear seat spilt, Smartplay infotainment system with Bluetooth audio, keyless entry and rear accessory socket to name a few.
But the major changes will be seen on the power trains of the MPV as the 1.3l Multijet DDis diesel engine which produces 89bhp power and 200Nm of peak torque will now come with SHVS hybrid technology seen on Ciaz. The SHVS comes with Deceleration Energy Regeneration system that sends wasted energy into an electrical system for storage.
However, the Ertiga will also receive the 1.4l K series petrol engine offering 93bhp power and 130Nm of torque. Transmission options will include the 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while Ertiga will also get the conventional 4-speed AT. Both the engines will be tweaked to deliver more fuel efficiency and expect the diesel Hybrid mill to deliver best in segment mileage.
Prices for the new Ertiga MPV will be more or less same as the ongoing model which starts at Rs.6 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and it will compete against the likes of Honda Mobilio, Toyota Innova and Renault Lodgy.
