BMW has taken the covers off from the facelifted 6 series range- BMW 6 convertible, new 6 series Coupe BMW 6 series gran coupe and their M6 cousins. It has been unveiled before its reveal at the NAIAS Detroit motor show which will take place next month. BMW has been updating its line up on frequent intervals like recently launched M3 sedan etc and now its turn of BMW 6 series to undergo a makeover phase with mild updates.
All the three models are that much identical even an eagle eye can get confused; one can spot the differences if all three cars are placed together. BMW has not change the iconic styling of 6 series accept revised kidney grille with nine bar instead of ten, full LED headlights and 20 inch alloy wheels, these are standard equipments but there some optional too like LED headlights with BMW anti dazzle high beam assist and multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Apart from exterior changes BMW 6 series and M series will available in new paint shades such as Melbourne Red metallic, Mediterranean blue metallic, Glacier silver metallic, Cashmere silver metallic and Jatoba metallic.
On the inside, buyer can choose between Napa or Dakota upholstery in bi-color variants of Ivory/black and Cognac/black. Air cons, central console and audio system buttons are garnished with piano black or high gloss surfaces, ambient lighting at foot wells and glove box. BMW 6 series is also equipped with head up display, iDrive, two zone climate control, cruise control etc.
As far as engines are concerned BMW 6 series features the same engines as the current model but with better performance and fuel efficiency. Petrol engine includes 3.0L turbocharged inline producing 315hp power, 4.4L V8 engine which emits 445hp power both equipped with twin power technology and eight speed automatic transmission.
M6 coupe, convertible and M6 gran coupe will get the power from 4.4L V8 engine which is responsible in producing 560hp power and 680Nm torque mated to 7 Speed M-clutch transmission. M6 will also get carbon roof, 20 inch M alloy wheels and M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, seats with contrast stitching etc.
All the variants can sprint 0-100 km in less than 5.5 seconds configured with M driver’s package.
