It seems as if there is no stopping Audi in India as they already launched three new models in the country with many more to come. Audi’s next launch is going to be the performance based RS6 Avant station wagon which is scheduled to on 4th June 2015. RS6 Avant will be Audi’s fourth launch of the year which follows the launch of A3 cabriolet and recently launched TT coupe and RS7 sportback facelift.
Audi is taking a big risk as station wagons haven’t done well in Indian market, many car makers such as Tata (Indigo Marina), Baleno (Altura) and Skoda (Octavia Combi) had tried their luck but they don’t really fancy the Indian buyers. But it seems Audi wants to have a go at the station wagon segment in India, so Audi has announced the launch of RS Avant on 4th June in India.
Avant stands for estate body or wagon style body type and Audi RS6 Avant is a performance oriented version of A6 Avant. The Audi RS6 Avant will be brought in as CBU unit and will serve in the niche segment. RS6 Avant would be the first ever Wagon in the country by any of the three German giants- Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
2015 RS6 Avant will have better body power to weight ratio thanks to the extensive use of Aluminum, hence it will be several kilos lighter than the outgoing model (in international markets) and it would play a key role in Performance of the car.
The main advantage of RS6 Avant would be the loads of space and practicality to match supreme performance and luxury.
Audi RS6 Avant will be powered by a 4.0L TFSI V8 petrol engine that churns out massive 552bhp power and 700Nm of peak torque matched to a 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all wheels via Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system. It can also do 0-100 km sprint in just 3.9 seconds with an electronically limited speed of 304 km/hr which is blazing for a Wagon/touring model.
Expect the price of RS6 Avant to break Rs. 1 crore mark if not more and will flaunt features like single frame chrome grille, LED matrix headlights with DRLs, new theme for LED tail lights and move inside the cabin and you will get all black theme, flat bottom multi function steering wheel, new infotainment system, Audi Drive select and many more.
Audi RS6 Avant might mark the new beginning of Station Wagon segment in India and we hope BMW and Audi might bring similar products as well.
