Soon after officially launching A6 facelift last month, Audi has introduced its petrol counterpart in India. Carrying a price tag of Rs. 45.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi and Mumbai), it is badged as A6 35 TFSI. The petrol powered variant comes with the same features seen on recently launched A6 diesel however it doesn’t feature LED matrix headlights. This is seventh launch for German car maker in India after RS 7 Sportback, Audi TT, new Q3, RS 6 Avant and R8 LMX.
The new variant is powered by a smaller 1.8l turbocharged petrol unit as compared to its predecessor which had a 2.0 litre mill. The smaller engine is tuned to produce 187bhp of max power@4000-6000rpm and 320Nm of torque@1500-3000rpm, comes paired to a seven speed S tronic automatic transmission. Like diesel variant, the A6 TFSI too comes with four drive modes- comfort, Sport dynamic and adaptive air suspension.
The Audi A6 TFSI now possesses start/stop mechanism and energy recovery technology which further enhances the fuel efficiency. According to Audi fuel efficiency has been improved by 12.7 percent which now stands at 15.26 Kmpl whereas power gets a 5 percent enhancement.
Moving to the exterior profile A6 TFSI which smartens by angular LED headlamps, Audi’s signature single frame grille, electrically foldable outer mirrors with memory function, restyled bumpers, trapezoidal exhausts and rear taillights with dynamic turn indicators. The interior too misses out some features like reverse camera and boss surround sound system as compared to diesel sibling, though these features are available as optional equipments.
The dashboard, door panels and central console now dominated by wooden trims while the cabin sports Fine Grain Ash Natural Brown and Milano Leather insert in color options of black, nougat brown and beige. Other features remain same on the petrol variant as it diesel version like it continue to get MMI system with Audi Drive select, cruise control, adjustable driver seat, electromechanical steering wheel, four zone automatic climate control and many more.
Audi A6 35 TFSI receives 8 airbags which include two rear side airbags, Audi parking assist plus, Traction control, ABS, EBD etc in safety department.
Mr. Joe King, Head Audi India, during the launch, said: “Embodying our philosophy of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’, and following the recent successful introduction of the new Audi A6 Matrix, the new Audi A6 35 TFSI takes our success in the executive sedan segment a notch higher. The new 1.8 L turbocharged engine which is 200cc smaller than the outgoing engine offers a unique combination of power and also efficiency at the same time. With the new 1.8 L TFSI engine, the fuel efficiency of the Audi A6 35 TFSI is increased by 12.7 percent and the power is further increased by 5 percent.”
