The Swedish car maker ‘Volvo’ has officially launched the 2015 Volvo XC90 SUV in India and it will replace the company’s 12 year old model. Volvo has received over 22,000 pre-bookings globally till now and it is the 1st Volvo model which is be based on Scalable product architecture (SPA) platform. This car brings Volvo closer to their goal of not letting single person Die or be injured in Volvo which is deadline at 2020. The
deliveries of XC90 will commence in September 2015 and it will take on Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GL class in the country

Price:

Volvo has launched XC90 in India today and it is available in two variants- momentum trim which priced at Rs. 64.90 lakh while the luxury D5 inscription variant is priced at Rs. 77.90 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).

Engine details:

New XC90 is available only in diesel engine and at its heart is the 2.0L twin turbo 1969cc diesel engine that churns out 225bhp power and 470Nm of massive torque. The power is sent to all four wheels via an eight speed automatic transmission that is good enough for a top speed of 230 km/hr and takes just 10 seconds to reach 100 km mark from a standstill.

Volvo will launch the petrol variant later this year followed by a Hybrid variant in early 2016.

Space and dimensions:

The luxury seven seater SUV has grown a bit in dimensions and offers more space inside the cabin as compared to outgoing model. New XC90 measures 4950mm in length which is 143mm more than the outgoing model, it is now 1923mm wide and 1776mm tall. The luxury SUV offers 2984mm of wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 235mm.

Colors:

The new XC90 is available in six electrifying color shades including Ember black metallic, Savile Grey metallic, Caspian blue metallic, Twilight bronze metallic, electric silver metallic and Ice white metallic.

Interiors and Exteriors:

The XC90 is based on SPA platform and borrows the design cues from Volvo’s XC coupe concept and the front fascia looks muscular and clean with features like Led lights at front and Adjustable headlights With ‘T’ (Thor hammer) shaped DRL is one of its special features.  Sides of the car remain clean and get the choice of 21 or 20 inch alloy wheels; Taillights are made of typically Volvo design.

Front grille is wider now with an ‘iron mark’ badge. It also have sunroof, integrated antenna, electric folding rear view mirror, front-rear defoggers and rain sensing wipers are some of its extraordinary features.

The highlighting features of XC90 Cabin is the 12.3 inch tablet like touch screen display which is placed at central console and it is sub divided into four divisions of navigation, Media, phone and weather

The interiors of XC90 look luxurious as it is furnished with wood finish covering from door to door and clean finish central console. Steering wheel with dual tone colors looks stunning. Premium quality fabric has been used on seats which are soft and comfortable to seat.

The gear lever which is made up of crystal glass, diamond cut volume control buttons and 3rd row A/C vents are some of the classy features of XC90.

The Inscription variant is equipped with mind boggling 19 speakers Bowers and Wilkins audio system, Nappa leather seats, heated front-rear seats, air suspension, head up display while the momentum variant gets driver seat with memory function, power folding third row seats, park assist, a panoramic sunroof and descent control.

Safety:

XC90 is loaded with massive list of safety features like air suspension, auto brake functions, energy absorbing seats and seat frame to save the persons sitting in the car from hard landings, it also carries special feature of self brake which puts auto brakes when car going faster than it excepted.

XC90 gets a package of 2 step front airbags with side and curtain airbags, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, rain sensor ABS, 360 degree camera, Reverse parking assistance, Side and front impact beams makes it a very safe car. ABS, EBD, anti theft alarm, day-night rear view mirrors and automatic height adjustable seat belts, vehicle stability control system.
