Mercedes-Benz today has launched a flagship S400 sedan in India at a price tag of Rs. 1.31 crores (ex-showroom). The 9th model in the S class line up will sit between S350 CDI and S500 and will be manufactured at company’s Chakan plant, Pune. The S400 will be replacing the S500 long wheelbase version in the lineup.

Mercedes-Benz has ended 2015 on high with 15 launches and now the German carmaker has planned 12 new models for the Indian market this year. Mercedes-Benz will lock its horns with BMW 7 series, Jaguar XJ and Audi A8L.

Engine Details:

The S400 features a 2996cc V6 petrol motor that is good for making 329bhp of max output between 5250-6000rpm and peak torque 480Nm between 1600-4000rpm. The sedan is linked to a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission which transmits power to rear wheels.

The dimensions and color offering remain same as standard S class

Exterior and Interior:

In terms of design, apart from the S400 badge all the elements remain identical to the standard S class sedan be it huge chrome grille at front, all LED headlamps, limousine like side profile and tri slat LED tail lamps. Even inside the cabin you get all the bells and whistles of S class such as 1520W Burmester 3D surround system with 24 speakers, 31.2cm display with new GEN telematics COMMAND system with 3D effect and animated menus.

It also sports leather upholstery, seats with massage function, ambient lighting with seven different colors and five dimming levels, WLAN hotspot, rain sensing, panoramic sunroof, SMS reader, navigation, radio, wood trim, four zone automatic climate control and much more.

Safety:

Apart from comfy feeling, safety has also taken care of with features such as eight airbags, PRE-safe, ASR with hill start assist, electronic stability program (ESP), 360 degree surround view camera, dynamic cornering control system, adaptive brake with hold function, engine immobilizer to name a few.
