In March 2013, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles launched its new-gen electric hatchback, e20 in India. And recently on 2nd December 2013, company got CII Design Excellence Award in the 4-Wheeler Mobility Design Category for the same ongoing Mahindra e20. Here we are flashing lights on the specs as well as various equipments of Mahindra e20. This hatchback is available in six different and classy colors including Spanish Red, Eco Green, Sunfire Yellow and Coral Blue.

Price:

This electric car has two variants which contain the price tag of 6.4 lakhs and 6.7 lakhs.

Engine details:

As told above, it has two variants namely e20 T0 and e20 T2, both are similar by their heart. Being an electric car, it has a 3 phase induction motor powers by the 48V maintenance-free Lithium-ion battery mated with automatic transmission and churns out the max power of 25.5bhp@ 3750rpm and peak torque of 53Nm@ 3400rpm.

This electric hatchback offers a stunning mileage of 100 km/l and also provides an easy charging by simply plugging the e20 overnight (usually takes five hours for a full charge).

Space & Dimension:

E20 is a small 2-door hatchback offering seating capacity for four passengers while the car is 3280mm long, 1514mm wide and 1560mm tall. Also it carries the 1958mm of wheelbase, 180mm of ground clearance and maintains the minimum turning radius of 3.9m.

Interior:

This trendy car is made up with premium quality plastic material and has lots of required features at inside. The hatchback has a dashing dashboard which gets a huge touch screen display, infotainment system, two micro SD card slots, Bluetooth connectivity and AC vents; also car has keyless entry & start/stop, hill hold, speakers, dual-damping glove box and many more additional features which make the e20 one of the stylish car. Though the car is spacious enough but being a two-door, one have to first fold down the front seats to go to the rear ones, this could be said as one of the drawbacks.

Exterior:

This battery car has an aggressive eye catching exterior containing polished headlamps along with integrated indicators, large front grille holding the ‘Mahindra’ logo in the middle, body colored rear bumpers, snazzy tail lamps at the rear, follow-me-home headlamps, reverse camera, scissor wipers, rear defogger etc.

Road handling & Safety:

Despite a small as well as an electric car, it still doesn’t provide a feel of discomfort to its users. This battery running hatchback offers a decent and smooth drivability with the help of minimum turning radius of 3.9 m. It is well equipped with McPherson strut – gas filled suspension at front while gas filled shock absorber with coil springs at rear. It can achieve 100 km by one time full charged battery along with the top speed of 81km/h.

The e20 is also embellished with entire required safety features like immobilizer, 3 crumple zones, ISOFIX Child Seat mounts with ALR rear seat belts for added child safety, 6 energy absorbing structures in the front and many more.

Verdict:

The Mahindra e20 is a great combination of luxury and better performance; it provides you a battery car with same perfect road handling and drivability like the other fuel engine cars, also in a quite affordable price. In this time, when fuel price (especially petrol) is continuously increasing day-by-day, this electric car could be a better option for the daily users.
