Finally Hyundai puts a break on the eagerness of its customers by launching its most awaited sedan Xcent which is based on the company’s popular hatchback Grand i10 which has recently get award of ICOTY 2014 (Indian Car of the Year). At first look, the new Xcent is looking not more than the added boot on hatchback Grand i10. Let’s see what more company has given to this new sedan. Oh yes, one more noticeable point here is that it’s Hyundai first ever sedan in Indian car market.

Price:

As per the reports, it gets three variants namely Base, S and SX where S and SX also have optional package variants. While the price range of all-new Xcent petrol varies between 4.6-7.19 lakhs, the diesel Xcent costs between 5.56-7.38 lakhs.

Engine details:

Like the Grand i10 hatchback, this new sedan is also available with both diesel and petrol units. While the petrol unit is same 1.2 liter Kappa Dual VTVT developing the max power of 81.86bhp and peak torque of 114Nm, the diesel fuel is 1.1 liter U2 churning out the 71.01bhp and 180Nm of power n torque respectively.

Though, the Xcent’s diesel engine is of 2nd gen and with improved torque but other than this entire hood line-up including power and torque and transmission is similar as its sibling hatchback Grand i10. The mated transmission gearbox in this sedan is 5-speed manual in diesel trim while a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic both in petrol.

As per its fuel efficiency is concerned, company has improved its diesel variant’s mileage a li’l bit and now the diesel Xcent offers 24.4 km/l mileage while the petrol trim develops 19.1 km/l in manual mode and 16.9 km/l in automatic.

The mileage figures are ARAI certified.

Performance:

Though, nothing can be described about its performance unless this sedan would run on the roads but by considering the fact that it is the same like ongoing Grand i10 hatchback under the hood, it can be expected to get amazing handling and comfortable drivability like the hatchback.

Space & Dimension:

Being a sedan model, it will offer the seating capacity for five passengers and also has gained more length than Grand i10. But the reports are that wheelbase is similar as the hatchback. The sedan is carrying the overall dimension of 3995mm x 1660mm x 1520mm along with the wheelbase of 2425mm, clear height of 165mm and car boot of 407 liters.

Interior:

Other than the entire feature range of Grand i10 hatchback, this sedan also gets few more equipments as per its increased price which also does increment in its luxury and comfort. These interior features include rear AC vents, multiple storage options, smart key with push button start/stop, 2 DIN integrated audio having 1GB internal memory, auto foldable electric mirrors, fully automated temperature control (FATC), rear parking sensors and cameras etc. Overall, it’s a spacious sedan with almost all the requisite features.

Exterior:

At outside, it’s looking refreshed and cool. The increased length and slightly down-to-earth height makes this model sporty and progressive. The chrome door handles, attractive fog lamps, 15” diamond cut alloy wheels etc are some of the features defining its beauty. Well, it can be said that it’s just an extra boot over Grand i10 hatchback but still company has refined the shape and curve of Xcent very carefully and sharply.

Color Options:

The Hyundai Xcent sedan is available in six different colors including Pristine Blue, Twilight Blue and Red Passion.

Safety:

As per its safety is concerned, features like dual airbags, ABS, rear defogger, reverse parking assist system, reinforced body structure etc are marking their warm presence in this all-new sedan.

Verdict:

Undoubtedly, it’s one of those few models which are being waited by the customers since long. The reason behind the Xcent’s wait is the popularity of Grand i10 hatchback. When company announced that along with same performance and power Hyundai is going to enter the sedan market, people became curious. Well, the wait is over now but we would definitely say that this Xcent is just another Grand i10 under sedan hood but with extra price. So it would be interesting to see whether people will welcome this new model with their open heart or will just remain happy n satisfied with the ongoing Grand i10.
