Fiat Avventura and Punto EVO to Get More Powerful 1.4L T-JET Engine

Fiat Avventura and Punto EVO

We earlier told you that Fiat India will launch more powerful of Punto EVO and Avventura in 2015. Fiat has finally decided to use more powerful 1.4L T-JET unit of Fiat Linea in Punto EVO and Avventura. Punto EVO and Avventura are always under scanner for slow off line performance; inclusion of T- jet engine might be the good way to answer the criticism. Engine Weight ratio of Punto EVO and Avventura is solely responsible for its slowdown in performance.

Fiat Punto EVO and Avventura is a fine player when it comes to ride and handling but performance led them down. The Turbocharged 1.4L t-jet engine produces 113bhp power@5000rpm and 207Nm of peak torque@2200rpm paired to a manual gearbox only, it might not feature with 7DSG gearbox like VW Polo GT but it can surely be paired to an automatic transmission.

Though it’s too early predict any mechanical or suspension changes but any drastic changes are not expected, it may have some minor changes, if any.

If Fiat comes up with T-jet engines in Punto EVO then it can go shoulder to shoulder to with Polo GT TSI which is powered by a 1.2L TSI motor which churns out 103bhp power and 175Nm torque. Punto EVO getting T-jet engine will have an advantage of 9bhp and 25Nm torque over Polo GT while Polo GT have weight over Punto EVO, GT TSI weigh 1053 kg against 1153kg Punto EVO.

The added power with good ride and handling will not only appeal enthusiasts but make both these cars a good prospect for other buyers also and it might become the most powerful hatch under 10 lakh.

Introduction of T-jet is certainly a great move by Fiat but it came late, Fiat should have taken this step when they offered this engine in Linea. Meanwhile expect Punto EVO T jet to cost around 7 lakh (ex-showroom) and Avventura T jet around 8-9 lakh price, Fiat might launch these two cars under different brand name as well though it is not confirmed yet.
