Launch of Skoda Octavia Facelift: Price, specifications and features

The 2017 Skoda Octavia has been launched in India at an introductory price of Rs. 15.49 lakh which goes up to Rs. 20.89 lakh (ex-showroom India) for the range top variant. This is the first big update for the sedan since its launch in 2013. In terms of changes, the car manages to look fresh from the front, sides and rear while interiors also receive some subtle changes. The sedan will continue to get stiff competition from Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta and Toyota Corolla Altis.

Engine Details:

Under the hood of 2017, Octavia is the same set of powertrains-2.0 litre diesel, 1.4l TSI and 1.8l TSI petrol. The 1.4l TSI petrol engine is good for 145bhp power and 250Nm of torque, linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The bigger 1.8-litre petrol motor that makes 178bhp of max power and 250Nm of peak torque, linked to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The diesel segment is handled by a 2.0 litre capable of making 141bhp and 320Nm of peak torque. It can be in either in 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Space and Dimensions:

There is no change in this department, 2017 Octavia measures 4670mm in length, 1814mm in width and 1476mm in height. The five seater sedan rides on the wheelbase of 2688mm translating into decent space inside.

Colors:

The Czech sedan is available in four trendy colours: magic black metallic, Quartz grey metallic, brilliant silver metallic and candy white.

Exterior and Interior:

As said, it comes with noticeable changes such as Split LED headlamps, modified front bumper, new front grille reminiscent of the superb sedan. Sides remain same except for the new wheel design while rear now features C-shaped LED tail lights, revised rear bumper. In terms of features, it now sports bigger 8-inch touchscreen system with Android auto, Apple car play, Smartphone integration and smartlink interface, new instrument cluster, 10 colour ambient lighting, USB ports below ac vent, new multi function steering wheel, panoramic sunroof etc.

Safety:

As for the safety, Octavia is loaded with eight airbags, hands-free parking system, hill hold, ESP (Electronic stability program), driver fatigue detection system, TPMS, hill hold, ABS (Anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake force distribution), EDL, MKB, Parktronic sensor and speaker at front and rear, child proof door locking and rear window.
