It was one of the industry’s worst kept secret but JLR has now officially confirmed that it will introduce a new vehicle in the form its first ever SUV christened to be called ‘F-pace’ and it would be based on Cx-17 concept which was shown at 2013 Frankfurt motor show. When I-pad was first launched most people found its name a bit quirky same can be said for the Jaguar’s SUV F-pace as well because it sounds odd and it will some getting used to it. F-pace as name suggest seems to take inspiration from F type sport cars and also Jaguar’s founder William Lyon motto of “Grace, pace, space”.

Jaguar will reveal the F-pace SUV at the 2015 Detroit motor show and it will be manufactured in the company’s plant at Solihull, UK.

Ian Callum, Director of Design Jaguar, said: “We received such an overwhelmingly positive response to the C-X17 concept car last year that we just had to make it a reality.” “The Jaguar F-Pace, inspired by the F-Type, represents a perfectly judged balance of style, performance and practicality,”

“It offers a unique combination of Jaguar sports car inspired exterior design, fused beautifully with a thoroughly practical and spacious luxury interior—the F-Pace is our family sports car.” He added.

Jaguar F-pace will be a 5 seater car built on Jaguar’s all new light weight aluminum architecture and company’s low speed cruise control system i.e. ASPC ( All surface progress control). This car will take its design cues, overall proportions from CX-17 concept; if this car uses even half of the attributes from CX-17 concept then F-pace will be a sensation.

Jaguar F-Pace to go sale next year and might sport multiple range of engines including Jaguar’s new ingenium range i.e. 2.0L four cylinder turbocharged and 3.0L V6 turbocharged engines. F-Pace will go head to head with BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK class.

Andy Goss, Jaguar-Land Rover Global Sales Director, said: “In 2015 we will celebrate Jaguar’s 80th year. We have started it by announcing our first performance crossover which we consider to be the ultimate practical sports car – a car that builds on the marquee’s founding ideals of Grace, Pace and Space to become one of the most innovative Jaguars we’ve ever developed. The F-PACE has now begun its engineering and development, testing programme ahead of the new model going on sale in 2016.”
