Mercedes has unveiled the AMG GLE 63 coupe at the New York a week after its teaser video was released. GLE coupe is available in standard variant and more powerful S variant. Mercedes GLE 63 will go head to head with BMW X6 and GLE AMG will take care of BMW X6 M. This new Coupe cum crossover is much more powerful than most of the Porsche cars.
The standard GLE variant is powered to a 5.5L motor developing 549bhp power and 699Nm of peak torque which is slightly lower than BMW X6 4.4L V8 motor which develops 564bhp power and 749Nm torque. The top spec and more powerful GLE AMG get 5.5L V8 turbo engine which is responsible to give 577bhp power@5500rpm and 760Nm torque@1750-5250rpm. GLE AMG coupe sprints 0-100 km in just 4.2 seconds with the electronically limited speed of 250 km/hr.
Mercedes GLE AMG coupe is equipped with seven speed automatic gearbox which sends power to all wheels via Merc’s all wheel drive 4-matic system. GLE AMG also features 5 different driving modes– Comfort, sport, Sport plus, slippery and individual. It also comes with features like AMG ride control suspension with active roll bar stabilization, sports direct steering and active curve system.
In terms of styling GLE coupe gets LED headlights with DRLs, molded front bumper, dual slat front grille, 21” wheels for the standard model and 22”dark grey alloy wheels for top spec, three pointer star at the centre of wide air dam, rear mounted lip spoiler, flared wheel arches etc.
On the inside you get the luxurious and modern interiors like 4.4” touch screen display, Harmon Kardon 7 surround system with full on-board connectivity and various multi-media support, three spoke sports steering wheel, premium and top notch materials, contrast stitching, sports bucket seats etc.
In safety department GLE comes loaded with surround view camera system, crosswind assist, adaptive braking system, attention assist, tyre monitoring system etc. Mercedes might launch this powerhouse vehicle in India this year to rival against BMW X6.
