Hyundai Elite i20 AT brochure leaked; launch next week

Hyundai Elite i20

The launch of automatic Elite i20 seems to be inching closer as the updated brochure with specifications has been leaked on web. According to leaked brochure, the automatic gearbox will be offered with Magna trim resulting in restraining features. As per reports, it will be launched with a 1.4l petrol engine in the next 7-10 days in the country. Larger displacement engine results in increase in excise duty from 12.5 percent to 24 percent which would raise the price immensely.

Speaking of the 1.4l VTVT petrol mill, it delivers max output of 99bhp@6000rpm and 132Nm of torque@4000rpm, linked to a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The figures are identical to the one launched in Indonesian market. The AT version offers 17bhp more power and 17Nm higher torque as compared to the standard 1.2l engine.

Expect new variant to be priced between Rs. 7.5 to 8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and would lock its horns against Maruti Baleno CVT, Honda Jazz CVT and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. Based on Magna trim, it willget dual front airbags as standard, AC vents for rear passengers, 2 DIN infotainment system with audio streaming via USB, Aux-in and bluetooth. Other features on board are dual tone fabric interiors, all four power windows, remote central locking, electrically assisted ORMs and power steering etc.

However it misses out on several features such as projector headlamps, keyless entry, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution), rear parking camera, automatic climate control and touchscreen infotainment system.

Some of Hyundai dealerships have started accepting bookings for the AT version of the premium hatchback. Earlier reports suggested that Hyundai might equip AT i20 with six airbags and it will be based on top Asta (O) variant but corresponding excise might have put the car out of reach for many prospective buyers.
