Honda cars India on Cloud 9: One Lakh new City sold and becomes Third Largest Car Maker

The 4th Generation of Honda City was launched in January 2014 and in the period of a year and three months over a lakh units have been sold. The new city is fastest to reach the one lakh cumulative sales mark in just 15 months while the Hyundai Verna managed to sell only 70,000 units in first 15 months of its launch despite of four engines.

There are various reasons behind the city’s success and strongest of all would be the introduction of diesel engine followed by its catchy design, great petrol engine and well placed interiors. Another reason for City success might be its complete package over its competitors and the company has erased the negative points of previous gen City which resulted in right product for the segment.

Apart from everything we mentioned above Honda have great customer loyalty and the brand name which is popular over its competitors. In March 2015 9777 city units were sold which is almost 50 percent of total sales of Honda in this month.

Riding high on City and Amaze’s sale the company achieved highest ever annual domestic sale by ticking 189,062 units during FY 2014-15, recording 41% growth over 1,34,339 units in FY 13-14.

The new Honda City has achieved exceptional success with over 1 lakh sales in record 15 months. We are excited about the upcoming launch of Honda Jazz in the new fiscal and look forward to another year of good growth.”

“HCIL also witnessed 36% growth in nation-wide dealer network expansion by focusing on existing markets & newer Tier III cities” he added.

Thanks to outright performance of City Honda cars India registered its highest ever monthly sale in the month of March 2015 retailing 22,696 units as compared 18,426 units of in the corresponding month of last year and dethroning M&M form third place in Indian passenger car market.
