If reports are to believe then Ford has planned a strategy to increase its line up in India by launching three new models by the end of next year 2015. These three new models will fall under the category of hatchback, sedan and SUV respectively. Ford has just introduced the facelift version of its ongoing sedan Fiesta and rumors are that company is done for this year i.e. 2014 and not going to launch any new model.
Talking about Ford’s new yet to manufacture hatchback model, it is being saying that this hatch will be the new generation version of company’s ongoing small car Figo. The new next-gen hatch will get sharp and sleek design along with many new and modern interior features probably. Apart from that, company is working hard on its improved exterior styling, interior comfort, performance etc. But the main news coming is that company will equip the 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine in this modern hatchback which is already marking its presence in Ford EcoSport. Still, despite having same size engine, Figo, in comparison to EcoSport, will be more fuel efficient and hence will develop less max power comparatively.
The next in the queue is Figo’s sedan version; it is a concept version which was showcased at 12th Auto Expo. This sedan version of Figo will be a compact-one and will carry the length of less than 4 meters. This new compact sedan by Figo, in India, will compete with the other popular same segment models like Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent etc, also insiders are claiming it will be most beautiful among its rivals. Spaciousness, driving dynamics, on-road performance are said to be of best in class too; the reality can only be told after its launch though. Like the next gen Figo hatch, it will also carry the same EcoSport famed 1.0 liter of EcoBoost engine under its hood.
And the last but not least in the row is Ford’s fully sized seven-seater SUV. The car might replace the company’s existing-cum-ageing same segment model Endeavour. Also, company is working hard on every negatives of Endeavour and will present its new SUV after removing all the hurdles. Reports are that new SUV will come with a diesel engine only as of now along with 5-speed manual gearbox. The car might give a tight fight to popular Toyota Fortuner on the terms of price.
The common thing among these all three cars will be Ford’s new SYNC multimedia interface and AppLink etc.
Speaking about the same, a Ford spokesperson added, “As business conditions improve in the long term, we are simultaneously studying the feasibility of a couple of more projects beyond 2015, in line with the emergence of new segments and consumer trends. It’s, however, too early to discuss specifics about the product introduction strategy.”
