Tata motors is on the comeback spree in last two years after a dismal performance in 2013, last year company had launched Zest compact sedan which is selling in good numbers and this year Tata came up with Bolt which competes in the premium hatchback segment against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo etc. Tata showcased two new models of Nano in 2014 auto expo one was Nano twist which comes with open able tail gate and another was AMT Nano.

Tata motors have been testing Nano AMT for quite a while and now Nano with AMT snapped again at Pune without any Camouflage badge as Nano twist XTA. Main USP about Twist XTA is (Automated manual transmission) AMT system, a Magneti Marelli Unit which is also a part of Zest, Maruti Alto k10 and Celerio.

In a bid to recapture the good amount of market share Tata is launching some new and innovative products like Zest and Bolt. Tata Nano generated hell of the buzz among the buyers when launched due to its cheapest car tag but unfortunately it failed to translate that advantage into good sales numbers.

Tata wants to change the perception of people about Nano’s being the cheapest car so in new upcoming you might see great fit and finish, improved build quality and many cosmetic changes inside and outside the new Nano. Long list of cosmetic and cabin changes are expected in Nano F-tronic.

Customers were asking for an openable tail gate so new Nano they might get what they were looking for but it will increase the overall weight of Nano F-tronic by 60-70 kg which could dent the fuel efficiency.

In terms of cosmetic changes Nano F-tonic to get redesigned smiley type front and revised rear bumpers, new fog lamps, honeycomb grille, rear spoiler and smoked headlamps. Inside as well some changes are expected like faux woody panel around central console. Apart from cosmetic changes fuel tank has been increased to 25 liters which should improve the range of Nano.

There is no confirm news on the prices and official launch date but launch is certainly around the corner and it could become the cheapest automatic car in India when launched. With such changes don’t expect new Nano to carry the same price so Nano F-tronic to be 30,000-35,000 pricier than twist XT which is available for Rs. 2.43 lakh.

Tata needs to position Nano F-tronic rightly so people could say it a Smart car rather than a cheap car.
