Nissan’s sister brand Datsun is looking to leave no stone unturned with its third offering for the Indian market, Redi-GO. The car will be launched in the first week of June and Datsun has started accepting bookings from 1st May, 2016 for a fully refundable amount of Rs. 5000. To create pre-launch buzz, Datsun is coming up with constant updates and the latest one is it delivering the same fuel efficiency as Kwid i.e. 25.17 Kmpl. The hatchback will rival against Hyundai Eon, Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki Alto 800.

Price:

The official prices haven’t been disclosed but the car will come at starting price Rs. 2.45 to 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top end variant. The Datsun managed to undercut its rival sibling by a good margin thanks to 98 percent localization levels.  

Engine Details:

Based on CMF-A modular platform, RediGO is around 25kg lighter than Kwid which weighs 670kg. Powering the entry level hatchback is a 799cc, three cylinder petrol mill good for 54PS power@5678rpm and 72Nm of peak torque@4388rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.0litre and AMT gearbox is likely on RediGO but at least after a year of its launch.

Space and Dimensions:

The tall boy hatchback measures 3429mm in length, 1560mm in width and 1541mm in height. The car has a ground clearance of 185mm which is 5mm more than Renault Kwid while boot space stands at 200 liters.

Exterior and Interior:

The design of RediGO is heavily influenced by the concept version showcased at 2014 Auto Expo, it features signature honeycomb front grille, flanked by sculpted bonnet, sweptback headlamps, faux skid plate and slim air dam. The side profile clearly shows its higher ground clearance, flared wheel arches gives it the SUV-ish profile while sloping roofline adds lean posture to the hatchback. The hatchback will get a lot of customization options as well.

The RediGO will sports the basic cabin and to keep the costs in check it will not feature with a touchscreen infotainment system and digital MID unlike Kwid. The car will get a basic 2DIN audio system, Air conditioning; three spoke steering wheel, front power windows and heaps of storage spaces inside.

Colors:

The RediGO will be available in five elegant color shades- Silver, Lime, Bronze gray, white and ruby.

Safety:

Datsun previous two offerings Go hatch and Go+ MPV aren’t safe at all and even basic safety features are not present. Datsun is offering a driver side airbag on the top variant while other variants might get it as an option.
