BMW is all set to launch its new car BMW 1 in India by the end of this month (August 2013). The car is basically a long hatchback car with price tag starting from Rs. 18 lacs to Rs. 20 lacs. The car will be available in both petrol and diesel versions. The 1 series which will be launched in India will have 5 doors, though there are also there 4 cars under the BMW 1 series tag: BMW 1 series with 3 doors, Coupe, Convertible and Active E.
Specifications: The car is already launched in many countries and now it’s time for India to enjoy BMW’s smallest car. The dimensions of the car will be 4324 mm x 1765 mm x 1421 mm. Max power and max torque figures shall be around 75 KW/4000 rpm at 1 min and 180 Nm/1100 rpm at 1 min. The CO2 emissions will be 127-132 gm/km. Top speed achievable is expected to be 195 km/hr and acceleration from 0-100km/hr shall take 11.2 sec. The car will have stylish 16 inches steel wheels. The transmission is expected to be 8-speed automatic.
From the pics revealed by BMW we can notice few things: the front has bold inverted D shaped grills typically like all BMW cars and the brand logo just above it, the front xenon head lamps and fog lamps impart visibility and looks , the side profile is impressive with the curves at the bottom especially in its blue silhouette! The radiator grill seems to be built in 3 parts with 1 central grill and other 2 on either side containing the fog lamps.
BMW boasts that the car is equipped with innovative technical features so that you can enjoy all the pros of technology like the electric power steering, ECO PRO mode, Auto start/stop functionality and brake energy regeneration, Park Assist, Rear View camera, BMW Connected Navigation system and real time traffic information. All this is possible only with BMW. And in the infotainment section there is AEUPO that is a personal internet radio to enjoy music along with your drive and free internet browsing on the ‘display screen’ though it’s more of a tab. And with the help BMW connectivity accessories you can integrate your iphone, ipad and smartphone into the car and take benefit of wifi hotspot.
Well about Safety BMW have mentioned these features: With the driving assistance feature you can combine camera based system with lane departure & collision warning and securely manoeuvre the car. There’s a feature called the Traffic sign recognition wherein the front camera in the interiors captures the traffic signs, speed restrictions and no overtaking signs and displays on the screen. Adaptive headlights with xenon lights adapt to the angle of the curve ahead with high beam assistant, these lights lower down when in an urban traffic zone and thus they don’t dazzle the oncoming traffic. Apart from these there’s an intelligent emergency call system through the ConnectedDrive app wherein the crash sensors automatically generate an emergency call through the accident proof telephone.
