For the diesel hatchback lovers, Toyota has introduced two new highline diesel variants to its hatchback Etios Liva. These new diesel trims are named as VD and VD-SP (here SP stands for safety package) and mark their presence as top most variants of diesel Liva.

Price:

The Liva’s existing two diesel variants JD and GD are available at the price tags of 5.72-5.99 lakhs while these two new are top most variants and cost at 6.72-7.12 lakhs.

Engine details:

The new variants have same mechanical powers like the existing Liva diesel trims. The VD and VD-SP are powered by same 1364cc, 4-cylinder D-4D engine developing 67.1bhp and 170Nm of max output and mated with 5-speed manual transmission.

The ARAI certified mileage of these two variants is expected to be same like predecessor which is 23.59 km/l.

Space & Dimension:

The Toyota Etios Liva is a five seater hatchback which is 3775mm long, 1695mm wide and 1510mm tall and carries the wheelbase of 2460mm, ground clearance of 170mm and boot space of 250 liters.

Interior & Exterior:

Being the highline variants, VD and VD-SP also get many new features like its highline petrol siblings but yes, as we mentioned above that you will have to pay more for these new variants. Its exterior is refined with double chromed grille at front, fog lamps at front, rear wiper and washer, 12-spoke alloy wheels, chrome garnished boot, turn indicators on the ORVMs etc.

While at inside the cabin, these new variants are also featured with:

  • Tachometer
  • Dual-tone interiors
  • Wood grain finished door armrests
  • Chrome gearshift knob
  • Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Rear defogger
  • Leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls (in VD-SP)
  • Dual airbags (in VD-SP)
  • ABS with EBD (in VD-SP)

Verdict:

While this Toyota Etios Liva diesel already had two variants, company introduced these two new to enhance the sales of this classy hatchback. The reason behind this step is probably because of the demand of hatchback diesel in India. Seems like company wants to attract the customers by offering more luxury and premium features. Toyota is a reputed brand in India and Indian customers love to buy its models. The Etios Liva was first introduced in March 2013, and its users are loving this hatchback since then because of its road performance and space availability.
