Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelift version of country’s best selling car Alto 800 at a starting price of Rs. 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Facing the heat from the sensational Renault Kwid in the last few months, the facelift version comes with host of cosmetic changes and better fuel efficiency. The entry level also gets two new color shades to compliment the facelift. Alto is the bestselling car for Maruti Suzuki and it is the first and only car to cross 30 lakh sales milestone.
Price:
To undercut the threat, Maruti has priced the revised model at Rs. 2.49 lakh for STD variant against Kwid which is available at Rs. 2.62 lakh for the entry level variant. The top VXI (O) will cost you at Rs. 3.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Engine Details:
The facelift uses the same 799cc petrol mill that delivers 47bhp power@6000rpm and 69Nm of torque@3500rpm, paired to a five speed manual transmission. The facelift model now delivers 9 percent better fuel efficiency as compared to its predecessor and now stands at 24.7 Kmpl as compared to 22.7 Kmpl. The CNG variants now deliver 33.44km/kg which is improved by almost 10 percent.
Space and Dimensions:
The new front fascia has resulted in increase in length by 35mm which now stands at 3430mm from 3395mm while width of 1495mm, 1475mm height and wheelbase of 2360mm is similar to the ongoing model. The ground clearance and turning radius stands at 160mm and 4.6m respectively.
Exterior and Interior:
Maruti has made changes to the 800 facelift but they are not drastic ones. The front now bears revised bumper with large air intakes, front grille is now slimmer and logo has been placed below it. The headlamps have been slightly upgraded while there is a provision for fog lamps which are integrated into the front bumpers. Inside the cabin, the color theme is now darker and rear seats get integrated headrests. Some convenience features have been added such as remote keyless entry, rear bottle holder and map pocket for Co-driver seat.
Colors:
Maruti has added two new color shades- Cerulean blue and Mojito green alongside Blazing red, Silky silver, Superior white and granite grey.
Safety:
As far as safety is concerned, the new model sports now comes with driver side airbag as an option even for the base variants while ABS is not offered even as option. The top variants feature door child lock, engine immobilizer, collapsible steering column, central door locking etc.
