As we all know Hyundai India is eyeing a facelifted version of its best selling Sedan Verna which has been spotted testing without any camouflage last month. According to sources Hyundai is planning to launch Verna facelift by the last week of January or first week of February. Verna was a segment dominator until Honda bags a punch with updated City which oust it from the segment leader position and now Maruti’s Ciaz adding fuel to the fire with its refresh look and spacious cabin.
The new refreshed model is already available in the Russian market as Solaris getting decent ovation from the buyers, Indian version might not get the same engines of Solaris but it may get six speed automatic transmission.
The new Verna gets refreshed front fascia with new two slat front grille, eagle eye headlamps with LED projector lights, redesigned fog lamps etc. Rear side gets LED taillights with third brake lights, black out portion at the lower side of bumper. Interiors of new Verna might be same but it might get some new features or add-ons equipments like 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation system.
In safety department new Verna will be equipped with tons of safety features including six airbags, vehicle stability management, traction control, ABS, EBD etc.
Under the hood, new Verna will get same power trains, 1.4L diesel and petrol engines and 1.6L petrol and diesel engines. While engines might be carried over from previous GEN Verna but new Verna will get 6 speed AT instead of 4 speed AT which will give it an extra edge over its rivals.
New Verna when launched will take on Honda city, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, VW Vento and Skoda rapid and expected to price from 7.5-11 lakh. Hyundai will be hoping that new Verna will help them recovering the lost share in the segment and restore them to segment ruler position.
