The 2016 Ford Endeavour will have its India launch on 19th January 2016 and Ford has started shipping new Endeavour to its dealerships across the country. The bookings for the new beast are expected to begin by the end of this week at least at dealer level. The next Gen Endeavour will take on the segment leader Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and Chevrolet trailblazer. Here is all you need to know about the new Endeavour

Price:

If new Gen model looking to dominate the Fortuner then pricing will be a crucial factor and will be assembled as CKD at company’s Chennai plant. So, it is expected to cost between Rs. 22-25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Engine Details:

Ford is likely to offer new Endeavour with two engine and transmission options, first will be a 2.2 litre 4-cylinder diesel mill that produces 158bhp of max power@3200rpm and high torque of 385Nm@1600-2500rpm, paired to a six speed manual transmission. While the other one is good for 197bhp@3000rpm and massive 470Nm of torque between 1750-2500rpm, this engine comes equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The former is expected to come with two wheel drive while the other one will have four wheel drive configuration along with variable geometry variable.

Space and Dimensions:

The muscular SUV offers seven seats and is slightly bigger than its rivals. It measure at 4893 mm in length, 1862mm wide, 1836mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. Ground clearance stands at 225 mm and bears mammoth 450 liters of boot space.

Design and Interior:

New Ford Endeavour banks on butch design and looks muscular in comparison to current model. The front fascia is boxy thanks to three layer trapezoidal grille, bumpers with huge scuff plates and integrated fog lamps, projector headlamps with LED DRLs. Move to the side which flaunts sloping roofline, 20 inch MAG alloy wheels, matte finish ORVMs with turn blinkers, swept window lines and huge side steps. At rear, it gets C-shaped spilt tail lamps, thick chrome bar on the boot lid and faux silver scuff plates flanked by LED reflectors.

The cabin of new Endeavour is leap ahead of current model thanks to reworked dashboard and central console. The new model will justify its premium price tag with features like advanced SYNC2 infotainment system with big screen, Smartphone integration technology with voice activation, leather wrapped steering wheel with plethora of buttons, control knob for terrain response system, Panoramic sunroof, revised control for AC, 8-way adjustable front seats, updated upholstery, dual zone automatic climate control and much more.

Colors:

The 2016 Endeavour will try to woo the customers in five modish colors- Black Mica metallic, cool white, Silver Aluminium metallic, Red sunset metallic, Sparking gold metallic.

Safety:

The new Ford Endeavour has secured 5 star rating in Australia based NCAP crash test, with all credit goes to its advanced safety features which include six airbags (front, side curtain and driver knee), active park assist, roll stability control, front-rear parking system, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution), blind spot information system with cross traffic alert, active park assist and emergency brake assist, electronic stability control (EBC) etc.
