Toyota Innova Crysta launching in India on 3rd May 2016; Variants detail leaked

We all have been waiting curiously for new Innova to get launched in India and now reports suggest that Toyota has finally decided the launch date for Innova Crysta. First rumored to be launched by end of May but now it is confirmed for 3rd May 2016 and bookings are open at minimum deposit of Rs50,000. Showcased at Delhi auto expo, the MPV will be available in both petrol and diesel powertrains. The Innova has been the segment leader since its launch and still garners over 5000-6000 units a month.

The deliveries of diesel avatar will commence from 13 May while petrol model is expected to arrive by August in the showrooms.  In addition, variants details have been leaked online ahead of its launch. Innova Crysta is based on new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform which underpins company’s Lexus and Prius models.

The new model will be slightly expensive and prices could start around Rs. 13 lakhs and might go up to Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top end variant. It will be comparatively spacious, luxurious; tech loaded which could lead to form a new premium MPV segment. New Innova is 150mm long70 mm wider and 35mm taller than the current model and new dimensions stand at 4735×1830×1795 with the wheelbase of 2750mm.

Initially it will be available in 2.4 litre and 2.8 litre diesel engines while Petrol will join it later in the life cycle. The 2.4 litre 2393cc engine delivers 148bhp of max power and 243Nm of torque while bigger engine is good for 172bhp power and 360Nm of high torque. To be offered in three trim levels GX, VX and ZX, the base and ZX will be paired with six speed automatic while VX will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Toyota has provided new model an upmarket design with sweptback headlamps with LED DRLs, new big hexagonal grille with two horizontal chrome slates, fresh pair of fog lamps with turn indicators lends premium touch to the front fascia. The side profile has been all new while rear sports boomerang shaped big tail lamps, big rear quarter panel glasses and tweaked bumper.

As said it will be more premium with plethora of features such as 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with HDMI, navigation connectivity, new instrument cluster with big MID, new dashboard design, automatic climate control, multi- function steering wheel, leather upholstery and much more.

Innova Crysta is a safe vehicle as it received 4 star rating NCAP tests and it will become even safer by getting dual front and knee airbags, ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic brake force distribution) as standard across the range.
