Tata zest was probably the most hyped car of 2014 launched with great expectations and it was one of the most talked about launches of last year. Zest compact sedan is the first product to be built on Tata’s new, refreshing HORIZONEXT technology which looked way ahead of other Tata’s cars.
Apart from this new technology Zest was in news for an AMT (Automated manual transmission) which also became first diesel compact sedan to feature an AMT below 8 lakh.
After the initial phase of its launch Zest struggled to get great sales numbers and lost battle to segment leaders like Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze. Zest AMT was initially available with XM variant called as XMA variant. In 2014 Zest won many awards by various auto portal sites such as car of the year, design of the year, technology of the year and many more awards.
In order to recreate the news about Zest Tata motors has launched a top spec variant of this compact sedan with the AMT+ diesel combo Christened as Zest XTA at the sticker price of Rs. 8.07 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Manual XT variant is available at Rs. 7.31 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) so that means you have to spend Rs. 70,000 more just for an AMT gearbox. This seems to be a pricey affair.
Zest XTA will be loaded with tones of goodies and great features like dual airbags, Harman infotainment system, automatic climate control, height adjustable feature for driver’s seat, rear defogger, reverse parking sensors and projector headlamps with daytime running lights.
Under the heart of Zest XTA it will be powered by same 1.3L Multijet diesel engine that develops 89bhp power and 200Nm torque paired to an AMT gearbox. Currently Tata zest is the cheapest priced AMT compact sedan available in India and with the launch of new top variant the sales of Zest will boost up.
Tata dealers have started taking the bookings for the new trim and expect waiting period of 2-4 weeks for Zest XTA variant.
