It seems Tata’s newest product seems to have hit the right spot as it receives more than lakh enquiries from across the country in less than two weeks of its launch in India; however the booking figures were not revealed by company’s Regional Manager South-1 (Passenger Vehicle Business Unit), Nakul Gupta. By seeing such warm response we can expect Tiago to create new booking records for Tata in India.
When launched it left all of us in surprise with its aggressive pricing, the base petrol is available for Rs. 3.20 lakh for petrol and 3.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for diesel. The entry level hatchback can be had in a 1.05l three cylinder Revotron diesel engine good for 69bhp power and 140Nm of torque along with a 1.2l Revotron petrol that develops 84bhp power and 114Nm torque. Both the engines are linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Tata Tiago is one of the most fuel efficient cars as the fuel efficiency of diesel motor stands at 27.28 Kmpl (ARAI certified) while petrol delivers 23.84 Kmpl.
Key of success includes elegant styling which is responsible to wide and young gen buyers and unlike previous Tata cars, Tiago’s design is aggressive and catchy. Avant-grade interiors with rich features such as Harmon Kardon infotainment system with navigation, first in segment Juke car app, height adjustable driver’s seat, dual tone dashboard, day and night IRVM, 60:40 rear seat spilt, power windows, best in class boot space also played an important role in creating such buzz.
Tata will launch two new vehicles every year; Tiago is the first of the lot while second could be Hex, Nexon or Kite 5 sedan.
